A Reason to Reflect

Anniversaries often make us pause and reflect on a journey.  This winter marks the second anniversary of the formation of the Kind Like Joey Foundation.

At times we felt like it was a full sprint-- creating a golf outing in just a few months then planning a Kind Like Joey 5k in just a few weeks!  Both events were opportunities to gather and tell Joey’s story while raising funds to support our mission in the community.

Yet, at other times, we felt our journey was delayed, like it was a slow motion crawl through the mud… rescheduling our golf outing and struggling to find ways to keep Joey’s kindness flowing amidst the pandemic.

In our reflection, we remember what we have accomplished in just two years:

  • $17,500 has been granted to families who have suffered the sudden loss of a school-aged child

  • $16,600 has been awarded to Central Bucks School’s seniors through scholarships based on kindness

  • The creation of a bereavement group for families who have suffered the loss of a child has proven to be invaluable to those it supports.

  •  And, organized events like teacher lunches, coat, toy, and holiday donations were enjoyed and valued yet few in comparison to the random acts of kindness throughout the community all done in Joey’s memory!

As with any anniversary, it’s also a time to look ahead and set new goals. We look forward to granting more scholarships helping young adults achieve their dreams, supporting more families in times of unbelievable grief, and always spreading kindness as we grow. Thank you for joining us on our journey… we can’t do it with each and everyone of you!
